Santa Claus is Coming to Citadelle Plaza

Hey, don't pout......starting this Wednesday, December 3rd, Santa Claus will be visiting the Citadelle Plaza every Wednesday in December from 4-8 PM. And, I cannot think of a more wonderful and relaxing experience than to bring your children to the Plaza to meet Santa and get their picture taken with the jolly St. Nic.

Also, we will have a table where your children can write their wish lists for Santa and we will place some of them every week on this blog site! (We hear he reads this blog every week!)

While you're here, you can pick up your fruits, vegetables and artisan baked goods at the Twilight Farmers Market and enjoy the holiday music, too. This farmers market in Glendale happens to be one of the most popular farmers markets in Arizona. We take pride in showcasing the finest local farmers Arizona has to offer!

In the mood to do a little shopping? The shops are open for your convenience. We have jewelry and clothes and make-up and shoes (and sales!)....you name it! What we don't have is long check-out lines, jammed parking lots and a rushed atmosphere. That's just not our style.

So, bring your family and friends and enjoy the Holidays as they were meant to be. We'd love to see you.

Magical Night for First of Fall Series: Twilight Farmers Market

Last Wednesday, the Twilight Farmers Market kicked back in. At 4 Pm, the new start time, the scene was a bit hectic: new vendors trying to figure out where to go, a Tucson farmer got lost and arrived late with loads of watermelon and flowers and many people there ready to be the first to grab the cream of the crop!

I lost my camera helping some of the farmers set-up, so I need you to send me some pictures (in your comments) and I guess I am getting a new one this week!

The weather could not have been nicer. The patios at Corbin's bar & grill and at Tutti Santi ristorante by Nina were completely packed with diners by 5:30 PM. Ah, yes, this is WHY we live in Arizona. I tried the Veal Cannelloni for the first time at Tutti Santi's and it was love at first site! You've got to try this item on your next visit there.

I bought some crunchy green apples and the best sweet apple cider form a vendor who came all the way down from Oak Creek/Sedona. I loaded up on Pastamore's Basil/Parmesan dipping oil and Sticky Finger BBQ sauce. She had suggested piercing the fresh salmon I just bought, cover the fish with her sauce and slow cook over a cedar plank, which I did on Thursday evening, it was a real treat.

All our merchants are holding a food drive for St. Mary's during the month of October, so be sure to bring a bag full of canned goods and peanut butter and drop off at your favorite store, for this very worthy cause. Our tenants have already filled hundreds of boxes with food to fill the shelves for those less fortunate! Good job!

This Wednesday, eight more vendors will be filling the courtyard with their produce and baked goods. Let's all show them that the west and northern valleys love to buy our groceries from local sources at the best farmers market in town! See you soon....

Twilight Farmers Market Returns October 7th, 4-7 PM

I am so excited that the wonderful farmers and artisan bakers are back for the Fall-Winter- Spring series of the Twilight Farmers Market! It's been two months and the farmers have been busy planting for the past 2 months are now ready to bring their produce to the farmers market to sell.

I love everything about the Twilight Farmers Market. Remember when it was 113 degrees and close to 2000 people showed up to get their fruit and vegetables from growers like Carl at Sea Cat Gardens or Maya of Maya's Gardens? SEE HERE...

My husband would bring our dog, Wrigley and they would sit at a table at Tutti Santi's ristorante , order a glass of wine and a pizza while I went about doing the weekly shopping. And, we never ate so well as we did last summer.

The Twilight Farmers Market has its own Twitter account starting this week; if you want to follow to see what's going on each week, go to TwilightMarket and follow us!

The hours have changed to accommodate the cooler weather and the fact that it gets darker earlier. Of course, many of us are planning to show then enjoy a cocktail at Corbin's bar & grill, a glass of wine and light supper at Next Coffee or wine and pasta dinner at Tutti Santi's. It's the perfect date night, if you ask me! Or that perfect place to go and get an ice cream cone after football or soccer practice! We look forward to seeing you there. Be sure to tell your friends and neighbors that the Twilight Farmers Market is back for all to enjoy!

MidFirst Bank Draws the Winner for Citadelle Plaza Shopping Spree

Thanks to the thousands of people who entered the drawing for a $500 shopping spree for the Citadelle Plaza, at the past nine Twilight Farmers Markets! And special thanks to MidFirst Bank for providing us with $500 for this shopping spree. Their motto is "more than you can expect from a bank" and we could not agree more. When we called and asked if they could provide our farmers market with a portable ATM machine for our shoppers, they had one brought out for the very next market.

We are proud to announce that Nicole Pease is our winner!!

We emailed her to tell her she won just yesterday and we look forward to meeting her and presenting her with the certificate to spent at any of the Citadelle Plaza's stores, next week. She told us that she had attended most of our summer series of the Twilight Farmers Market and had really enjoyed them all. We hope she has fun spending this money at the many fine selections of restaurants, clothing boutiques, hair salons, chiropractor or personal training. Doesn't that sound like fun?

My next blog will show you all the fun we had at the last Twilight Farmers Market on July 29th. There are just so many great pictures, I am having a hard time selecting the shots to use!

Please vote for our farmers market in this national contest (currently we hold the #90 position but moving up rapidly!) Go to: http://www.care2.com/farmersmarket, find AZ, Glendale and the Twilight Market, just add your name, your email address and a comment if you'd like. Then Twitter it, Facebook it and email to all your friends to vote, too. We really do need every one's help to win. (It takes a village).

Twilight Farmers Market: Bigger, Better, And Red Hot

I am sitting down eating my breakfast (Chocolate Pumpkin Brownie) from the Sweet Art Bakery table from last night's Twilight Farmers Market at Citadelle Plaza in Glendale.

Yes, that's a breakfast food!

The market had several new vendors last night. We welcome Siam's Gardens and her unusual and exotic vegetables and fruits:

Gateaux ZoZo with their fresh croissants and Madeline's:

And homemade granola from The Healthy Nut.

The entertainment seemed to have a RED-HOT theme going with the Flamenco Del Sol dancers dancing to the soulful music by guitarist, Miguel Rodriquez:

In Chef Morgan's 'It's Child's Play' Area, the children were content making and eating their yogurt, granola and berry concoctions:

And every child's dream of becoming a fireman came true (if only for an evening) on the Fire Truck Adventures for Kids. They tried on kid-sized uniforms and got to pretend to drive the truck but really toot the horn:

It was just so nice seeing thousands of people relaxing and enjoying an evening in July....in AZ!

Couples strolling the Citadelle Plaza's courtyard,

Young and old people enjoying each other's company,

And of course, those wonderful, local-grown fruits, vegetables and one of my favorites, specialty oils from Pastamore!

July 15th we are looking forward to 'Shallow Water' playing. They are a great rock and roll band. See you soon!
