Shopping Spree Winner's a Doll

Let's face it, giving away a $500 shopping Spree to be used anyway a person would like at any of the stores in the Citadelle Plaza is not a hard task! It's a fun part of the job for sure. And having partners like MidFirst Bank is also a very pleasant experience. They provided this shopping spree drawing as well as the ATM machine at the Twilight Farmers Markets this summer. But what made this drawing so delightful was meeting our winner, Nicole at Next Coffee this week.

(That's her on the left)

Nicole Pease came up and introduced herself. She told us a funny story about her husband who said, "you won $50 bucks, that's great, we can go get a pizza!" She said, "no, they said $500!" Now that could be a lot of pizza! But Nicole is expecting a child soon, so we were thinking more about a pampering massage or a personal training session at Oasis or how about a some new earrings from AMG jewelry and design? So many possibilities................

Good luck with your new addition to the family, Nicole, and thank you for attending so many of our Twilight Farmers Markets and making the Citadelle Plaza your family's favorite gathering spot for dining and shopping in Glendale!

MidFirst Bank Draws the Winner for Citadelle Plaza Shopping Spree

Thanks to the thousands of people who entered the drawing for a $500 shopping spree for the Citadelle Plaza, at the past nine Twilight Farmers Markets! And special thanks to MidFirst Bank for providing us with $500 for this shopping spree. Their motto is "more than you can expect from a bank" and we could not agree more. When we called and asked if they could provide our farmers market with a portable ATM machine for our shoppers, they had one brought out for the very next market.

We are proud to announce that Nicole Pease is our winner!!

We emailed her to tell her she won just yesterday and we look forward to meeting her and presenting her with the certificate to spent at any of the Citadelle Plaza's stores, next week. She told us that she had attended most of our summer series of the Twilight Farmers Market and had really enjoyed them all. We hope she has fun spending this money at the many fine selections of restaurants, clothing boutiques, hair salons, chiropractor or personal training. Doesn't that sound like fun?

My next blog will show you all the fun we had at the last Twilight Farmers Market on July 29th. There are just so many great pictures, I am having a hard time selecting the shots to use!

Please vote for our farmers market in this national contest (currently we hold the #90 position but moving up rapidly!) Go to: http://www.care2.com/farmersmarket, find AZ, Glendale and the Twilight Market, just add your name, your email address and a comment if you'd like. Then Twitter it, Facebook it and email to all your friends to vote, too. We really do need every one's help to win. (It takes a village).

Cooler Weather for 3rd Twilight Farmers Market

The Twilight Farmers Market is such an explosion of visual delights! Just look at these sunflowers:

We were so blessed with beautiful weather for the third week in a row. The paper said that it has not been this cool in the month of June since 1913.

The Glendale firemen rang the bell to start the market and brought engine 155 along, too. President of GPE Management Services, David Genovese presented the Assistant Chief and fireman with a basket of goodies from the market farmers.

The fireman rang the bell very softly, which was so cute since he's obviously very strong and fit.

Next, the 'AZ Thunder' tumbled and cheered for the crowd. It was nice to see how the older girls helped the younger members of the group:
I would have to say that the crowd loved when they did back bends and "walked" that way the full length of the tumbling mat:

But for me, it was the littlest members of the group that stole my heart! Just look at the faces on these two little darlings:

With so much variety of produce and growers to choose from, I have hardly entered the doors of a grocery store for weeks now. This week, we saw the addition of corn. It was so sweet and tender, just like the corn I remember eating when I was a child.

We had two new vendors this week: Maya's Gardens and Flowers and Nicole's Gardens. I tried a lemon cucumber for the first time (it looks like a yellowish apple, but tastes like a lemony-cucumber).

In fact, there was an abundance of fruits, veggies, fish, meats, tamales, dipping oils breads, apple butter, farm-fresh eggs, flowers and herbs to choose from this week. Make sure you visit Pastamore next week and ask for his Basil Parmesan Dipping Oil; it's to die for!

But, you do not want to miss the 'Butter N Me' table. She wears an apron with cupcakes on it and sells the most delicious cupcakes, cookies and other delicious treats. The other cupcake businesses in town do not hold a candle to her homemade desserts!

All evening, we heard the beautiful sounds from female vocalists, 'Pearls and Ivory'. That's Lindsey:

And that's Chelsea:

Maybe it was their lovely voices, the selection of their songs or just the cooler Arizona weather, because there was romance in the air:

Coming June 24, Chef Morgan will be away but we have a special treat for the kids entertainment area: Christopher the Magician will have two shows (6:30-7 pm and 7:30-8:00 pm) with balloon animals being made in between the shows.
We are thrilled to have "The Pongaboys" playing on the main entertainment stage this Wednesday, June 24th. You may have heard them at Aunchiladas at the Squaw Peak Hilton.
Look for the Jobing Arena girls and another ticket giveaway at their fabulous facility. And, bring your canned foods to drop off at the St. Mary's table for their food drive.
MidFirst Bank is also providing us with an ATM machine for your convenience.
I hope to see you all there!
